THANKS FOR DROPPING BY
I’m Peter Cairns. For more than three decades, I’ve worked as a conservation photographer, filmmaker and environmental communicator— writing and illustrating books and features, producing documentaries, and delivering talks, media interviews and educational workshops. In 2018, I co-founded the rewilding charity SCOTLAND: The Big Picture, serving as its Executive Director until 2025.

Over the years, I’ve spent time with many people who care deeply about nature — farmers, hunters, wildlife managers, scientists, policymakers, and many others in between. What I’ve come to believe is this: the future for nature depends less on science and policy, and more on how we as a society, think and feel about the landscapes around us and the species that share our space.

In other words, our willingness to make space for nature, to loosen our grip on the land and to welcome the return of unfamiliar species, relies on our values as individuals – how we each see the world and our place within it.
At the Edge unpacks the fault lines that currently define our relationship with wild nature, exploring pathways to living well with wildlife.
You’re very welcome to join the conversation.

Peter Cairns.
